From Tell's Iris catalog, 1955: HEADLINES (Extravaganza x Louise Blake). L.-M.-VL. Called the "Black and White" amoena in England and the recipient of high praise from every quarter. The standards have blue in them when first opened but soon fade to white. A superb addition to this color class. Selected for Trial at Wisley. $20.00 |
From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: HEADLINES (Brummitt 1955) M. VL. 38 in. (Extravaganza x Louise Blake). In England where it originated, this has been called the Black and White amoena and it is a quite fitting name. The standards open a pale blue that quickly fades to a snowy white and the falls are a deep black purple. The flowers are large with well domed standards and very flaring falls. The best new amoena we have seen. Net 20.00. |
