1960, Sass-Ohl

'High Society' (Sass Brothers and John Ohl, R. 1959). Seedling# 55-490. TB, 36" (91 cm). Midseason bloom. Color Class V3, Standards mauve: falls velvety red-purple, brown hafts; orange-yellow beard. Sass seedling# 53-172 X 'Persian Robe'. Melrose 1960.

From AIS Bulletin #157, April 1960. Co-introducing with El Dorado Gardens HIGH SOCIETY (Sass-Graham 38". (sib to Commendable). The aristocrat of neglectas. Both the color and the texture are lush and expensive looking. Standards clean delicate orchid underlined by velvety red purple falls shouldered in smooth chocolate brown and edged orchid. Orchid styles and orange beard. Net $25.00. Melrose.
