Illuminator (Wmsn. No. 492, 1932). ([Nancy Orne X –) X Dominion). Remarkable for Dominion character without the dulling that usually goes with that race. There is no trace of yellow in style branches and no trace of yellow on the haft. In sunlight it is a beautiful rose. A stiffly carried beautifully rounded flower, perfect in form. Height 36 inches; branching mid-height; 8 flowers well spaced. Flowers: 3% inches high and 4 inches wide. S. arching cupped; obovate; Matthew's Purple; claw purple and maroon veined to a lesser extent. F. drooping; wedge shaped; Cotinga Purple. Haft: white, purple veined. Beard: Deep Chrome. Style branches: white; mid area and crests like the S. Slightly fragrant. $25.00. [Longield Iris Farm catalog, 1932] |
