From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: ISOLINE — There is nothing like this Iris in the whole collection, either in form or color. It is hard to give an idea of its peculiar beauty. The flowers are very large, of heavy texture. S. very broad, pale pink-lilac with light and dark shadings; F. very long, purple old rose, veined warm golden-brown at base, and with a touch of the same color here and there over the surface; beard yellow. $1.25.

From H. P. Simpson catalog, 1922: ISOLINE (Vilmorin, 1904) — S. pinkish lilac; F. old rose with a tinge of copper. A beautiful piece of coloring and hard to describe. There isn’t a thing in the garden that excels it in sheer beauty of coloring. Large flowers, but shape of bloom is not quite as good as P. Dalmatica, for instance. Tall. 36 inches. 40¢.
From Bulletin #6 "Large, Standards pale pinkish buff tinged with vinaceous cinnamon at edge; falls reflexed, Chinese violet to russet vinaceous;flower yellow tinted toward center, stalk low but not widely branched; growth variable; over 3 feet. Spathes tinged purple at edge; beard conspicious orange".
