'Ivory Black' (Fred DeForest, R. 1951). Seedling# 428. TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-V1D, Self of deep violet, "near black," with black beard. Seedling: (('Her Grace' x 'Sable') x 'Storm King') x ('Her Grace' x 'Black Forest'). Irisnoll 1957.

From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1964: IVORY BLACK (DeForest '57) M-36". A contender for the blackest Iris. Extraordinarily wide, rounded, flanng, velvety falls, remarkably black. Hafts wide & clean. Standards closed, blackish violet. Size, form, substance and clean haft all combine to make this Iris a standout. (((Her Grace x Sable) x Storm King) X (Her Grace x Black Forest)). Regularly $3.50; on $10 order $3.15; on $25 order $2.80.
