From AIS Bulletin #153, April 1959. Introducing LE BEAU-(E-27-1 x New Love) This boy friend is resplendent in white tie as well as startling white tails. A truly imposing ruffled glistening white self. Proportions excellent, substance heavy. Underside of wide falls has greenish ribbing. Yellow beard. Ideal branching on 38" stalk. Midseason to late. HM '58 as seedling H-7-I. Net $25.00. Harvest Lane Iris Gardens
LE BEAU, Georgia Hinkle's lush white, exhibits the characteristics we have come to expect in Georgia's iris: beauty, vigor, enchantment. The ruffled petals are so broad and so deftly fashioned they seem to have been molded by a sculptor's hand. Branching is classic perfection, and it is one of the best growers in our garden. Melba Hamblen, "Honors, Review and Preview", A.I.S. Bulletin 164 (Jan. 1962): 15.

From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: LE BEAU (Hinkle '59) M. 35 in. New Love x Good Manners. One of the most talked about of the top-notch new whites. A choice flower of large size, excellent form and ultra heavy ruffling. NET 12.50.
