From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: "LE PACTOLE — (Sq.) S. pinkish violet-bronze, paler than Justinian and bronze more pronounced; style arms like S.; F. bright violet-blue, very velvety, brighter at tip, base strongly reticulated brown on yellowish-white. All divisions very long. A good Iris, rather loosely arranged, coloring soft and rich. 35¢"
