Elias Nelson, (Washington), “Varietal Comments 1946”, The Bulletin of the American Iris Society No. 105 (April 1947): 97. | | *LEILANI* (Washington 1943) M. Charming and entirely different, this iris has great color appeal and is most outstanding in this new class of orange pinks. The standards are Venetian pink, well domed and firm. The rounded falls are the same color with well defined lines of deeper pink which give added intensity to the flower, while the peach red beard completes the color harmony. Eight flowers well spaced on a wide, low branching stalk. H. C., A. I. S. 1941. H. M., A. I. S. 1945. R. 88 1946. 35 in. $20.00. [Mrs. Thomas Nesmith, Fairmount Gardens Catalog, Lowell, Massachusetts, A Selected List of Bearded Iris, Catalog, 1948] | | LEILANI (Washington) belongs to the new color class of Venetian pinks. The color is very attractive and will be of special interest to breeders for pinks, as it has more depth of color than any other of the Venetian pinks I have seen. [McKee, William (1943). Noteworthy New Iris in New England, AAmerican Iris Society Bulletin, 90 July 1943), 13.] | | | --- %INCLUDE{"AdmTbInsert"}% --- %COMMENT{ type="bottom"}% --- -- Main.RPries - 2011-03-07
