| MELITZA (Nesmith 1940) M. This salmony flesh self is unique and a decided break in color harmony. The standards are delicate ivory pink, highly domed and firm. The falls have the same exquisite coloring with a slightly deeper flush around the beard. The beard is intense pinkish tangerine, so vivid that the whole flower seems infused with this brilliant unusual color. The flowers are medium in size of very firm substance lasting for three days or more and are nicely placed on well branched stalks. H. M., A. I. S. 1940. Per. R. 88 1941. 40 in. $8.00. | MELITZA (Nesmlth, 1940) Each 50c; 3 for $1.25. Pale ivory-flesh, particularly effective in dull weather. Much of the unusual color effect of this Iris is derived from the fiery tangerine-orange beard. No Iris that we have ever grown has increased so rapidly and it in at its best on a two-year clump. | White flushed tangerine. The conspicuous beard is tangerine red. An unusual iris that is very attractive. Increases more rapidly than any iris I have ever seen and never fails to produce good bloom. Douglas, Geddes (1942). More Variety Comments, 1942. | MELITZA (Nesmith, 1940) : Shell pink or almost white; purple markings on dusky haft ground; color of beard diminishing toward tip; size of flower medium with us. Its thrifty growth and liberal increase is transmitted to virtually all its seedlings. It is a good seed parent, and takes are obtained quite easily when its pollen is used on other varieties.
