(TB) 'Memphis Lass'
1957, Schortman
'Memphis Lass' (
William Schortman, R. 1957). Sdlg. 5175. TB, 34" (86 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-W2, Plicata, white and burgundy red. (
'Snow Flurry' x
'Orchid Queen') X (
'Snow Flurry' x
'Gibson Girl'). Schortman 1957.
- "MEMPHIS LASS, a recent introduction from Bill Schortman, has style and form that will compare favorably with iris in any color class. I find it hard to fault on any count. It has a cream-white ground with red-purple stitching, wide, flaring form and is ruffled. Its parentage is most interesting: (SNOW FLURRY X ORCHID QUEEN) X (SNOW FLURRY X GIBSON GIRL). ORCHID QUEEN is SNOW FLURRY X (INSPIRATION X BALMUNG). So there are three doses of SNOW FLURRY and three of plicata".
