From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1958: PRINCESS ANNE (Lloyd Zurbrigg, Kingston, Ont., Canada). Midseason-Late. 36 inches. (Cascade Splendor x Armour Bright.) It is a distinct honor to co-introduce this superb yellow and white bicolored beauty. Marked with quality and charm this flower, last year, was one of two guests in the garden that everyone asked about and wanted whether they were judges or just lovers of iris. The yellow is very clear and clean, the white in the falls set off by a border the same color as the standards. Its falls are very wide and ruffled: substance is all that could be desired. Unfortunately Mr. Zurbrigg lost much of his stock last year in a weed-killing spray accident, so the number of rhizomes to be released is limited and the price will be high for several years. Producing wonderful seedlings of quality. $35.00 |
