From Indian Spring Farms catalog, 1927: PRINCESS BEATRICE (Barr) 9.5. This true variety is one of the finest of all the Irises. Unfortunately there is much confusion among the Pallida-type flowers and various inferior sorts have been sold as Princess Beatrice. S. and F: clear lavender-blue, shading to pale silvery-blue at the base of the petals, and lighted by a clear orange beard. The falls are well rounded and flaring. Tall and vigorous in growth with broad, light green foliage and strong stems. Rather slow in becoming established and a shy bloomer the first year. 75 cts. each; $2.00 for 3; $7.00 per doz.
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: PRINCESS BEATRICE (Barr). S. light lavender; F. deeper, slightly tinted violet. Beard white tipped orange; not quite as tall or as vigorous as Pallida Dalmatica. The flowers are broader and flaring, making it very attractive. Height, 33 inches $1.00.

From Treholme Gardens catalog 1928: PRINCESS BEATRICE 95 (Barr about 1898) A.M., R.H.S. 1916 E. 93 G. 91 42" E. to M. S. Delicate silky lavender-blue self with flaring falls, waves at edge; white beard tipped orange; sweetly scented. A strong, vigorous grower with wide glaeous foliage. Not always a sure bloomer or rapid increaser first year after division. A flower of heavy substance and a satiny texture lasting long in flower. A selected form of Pallida Dalmatica of wonderful form and rare beauty that should be in every up-to-date collection. The true variety is always scarce. 75c.
