From Sass catalog, 1949: RUTH POLLOCK (H. P. Sass, 1939)- Yellow plicata, S.yellow, dotted and edged dark red-brown. F. light yellow, with a heavy border of red-brown. Stems 36 inches, low branching. 50c
Mr. Sass takes much satisfaction in his yellow plicatas. Some breaks come by accident but these plicatas are the result of careful plans. It is not long since there was no such thing as a yellow plicata, but here there are hundreds of them, the only question being the one of deciding which are to be kept. One of the most charming is Ruth Pollock. The standards are a soft rose over yellow. The center of the falls is clear yellow while the edges are slightly frilled. It is not only an interesting new color combination but a very beautiful flower. Tinley, Lucy W., "Midwest Iris Notes", American Iris Society Bulletin 75 (December 1939), 18-19.

A year later, 1939, a vast stride was made in the creation of two yellow ground plicatas that please the most fastidious, Balmung and RUTH POLLOCK ((No. 40 X Rameses) X Amenti) X Tiffany. Their ground color is a rich shade of deep yellow...Ruth Pollock has a less bold character than its partner Orloff. It is preferred by many because of its grace and charm, richly polka-dotted and etched rose on luxurious velvet yellow background. Schreiner, Robert, "The Evolution of our Yellow Plicatas", American Iris Society Bulletin, 88 (January 1943), 60.
