From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1968: SATIN SOUND (Tompkins 1968) M.VL. 40 in. (Deep Space x Mt.Music) x (Salem x Flee Admiral. This is a stunning new Violet Blue that fully lives up to and even far exceeds the wonderful qualities found in each of its parents. The perfectly formed flowers are very large with extra broad, gently waved, beautifully rounded petals. Its broad, rounded standards being perfectly domed and its wide falls flaring to almost a full horizontal position. A medium toned violet blue, this appears to lean more to the blue side than to the violet. A smooth self, even to the beard, it is a color that literally flaunts its brilliance to the world and is an Iris that once seen will not soon be forgotten. Its tall, strong, perfectly branched stalks show off the beautiful flowers to perfection and I must confess, I consider this one of my finest originations. No.64-68C Net $35.00 |
