1949, Walker

'Sespe' (Marion R. Walker, R. 1949). Seedling 6-49. TB, 38", Early to midseason bloom. Color Class-Y6L. Standards greenish yellow; falls darker; fragrant. 'Brown Betty' x 'Fort Knox'. High Commendation 1949(Seedling 6-49).

Adopted into the Gardian Garden Iris Program 2015.

From Fleur de Lis Gardens catalog 1956: SESPE (Walker 1952) M. 38 in. - (Brown Betty x Fort Knox). As this bloomed here last year, it was a knockout. If it performs elsewhere as well as here, it must be one of those that has somehow been overlooked. Flowers are large, nicely flared and a luscious shade of rich chartreuse. The finish is sleek and gleaming and even a single stalk shines out. 3.00.
