SILENCE (Tompkins '66) M.L. 38 in. (From Comforting Thought, Fancies Flight and Kashmir Lace Lines). I consider this to be the most beautiful yellow I have produced or even seen. We haven't as yet found it lacking in any quality. It has large size, perfect form, heavy substance and wide, elegantly ruffled petals with equally wide, delightfully pleated hafts. A brilliantly rich, deep yellow with a trueness of color we have not seen since the hey-day of Guiding Star. This lively rich color is accented even more by a self-colored beard and a slightly lighter Canary yellow glow over the central part of the falls . It is a good grower with tall wonderful branched stalks that carry many buds and flowers in perfect placement. We want to thank Jake Scharff for naming this, as well as for his efforts and those of Mr. Watkins in getting the name (registered but never used) released to us. No. 63-83 H.C. 1965. One to a customer please. [Fleur De Lis Gardens, Canby, Oregon, Catalog, 1966]
