From Indian Spring Farms catalog, 1927: TENEBRAE (Bliss 1922). A Dominion Seedling of rich, dark coloring that is free flowering and dependable. S. rich violet-purple, tinged dark maroon-purple at the center; F. rich, velvety blackish-purple, reticulated brown at the haft. The flowers are large and finely formed, borne on strong seems 36 inches high. $7.00 each. |
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: TENEBRAE (Bliss). Dominion Seedling. S. deep rich violet-purple overlaid with a transparent sheen. F. very large velvety black red-purple with red-brown markings on white base; F. much deeper than Moa. Orange beard. An excellent Iris of very rich color, which, however, is not quite as tall as Cardinal or Swazi. In England this has been one of the very best sellers of the Dominion Seedlings $7.50 |
