From Orpinton Nurseries catalog for 1951: Canada gave us another thrill with this lovely and unusual iris. It is a seedling from Jean Cayeux x Rameses, the general effect being light havana-brown over empire yellow, suffused pinkish-lavender. Beard orange. The whole flower positively shines and has an iridescence and metallic sheen which is remarkable. Very free, marvelous branching from the ground upwards: this is a first class iris. 3 ft.
