'Treasure Island' (Rudolph E. Kleinsorge, 1937) TB. Late midseason bloom. Color Class Y4D. (cream sdlg x 'Jean Cayeux'). Honorable Mention 1939; Award of Merit 1945.

From Cooley's Gardens catalog for 1937: "Yes, it's here ~ a truly gigantic flower of bright, clear, rich yellow. Tall stems, not a trace of Dykes blood in its parentage, hardiness beyond question. Treasure Island is nearest to ideal of any of the new yellows we have seen, because there is neither the tell-tale purple flecking which eventually crops out in those of the Dykes strain, nor the ofttimes tender constitution accompanying them. Still other fine new golden hued introductions possess a suffusion of olive on the haft, but not so this one. The illustration on the opposite page is an exact reproduction in every detail except size, which is reduced to fit the page."
