From Fleur De Lis catalog, 1956: TRIFARI (Sass 1953) M. 38 in. ((A. Plain x Imp. R. Pollock) x Sib.) x (sdlg. from Golden Age, P. Sunset, Mary Geddes, King Tut, Orloff and Rameses) x (sdlg.from Amenti, P. Sunset, Golden Age,Midwest Gem and Dore)). A bright new plicata with a very pleasing and different pattern. The ground color is deep butter yellow and there is a slight all around feather edging of rich red brown that deepens and becomes so solid and distinct over the shoulders and haft that it gives a vivid epaulet effect. A lighter area in the center of the falls and a rich gold beard add further brilliance to the whole flower. The form is good with broad, heavily substanced and sleekly finished petals. 3.00

TRIFARI (Sass )- Beautiful plicata in a deep shade of bright gold background, marked in a soft shade of brown. Very different, and a welcome addition to the plicata class. [“Region 15, Varietal Comments, Advertisement. The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 134 (July 1954): 73.]
