From Indian Spring Farms catalog, 1927: WEDGEWOOD (Dykes 1923). A gloriously rich, true blue self. Both S.and F. are a uniform color of "Wedgewood" blue, shaded to white at the base of the segments with a white beard. The large, prominent flowers are freely produced on well-branched stems 42 inches high. A flower of the same finished effect as Aphrodite among the pinks. $7.50 each.
From Mrs. W.R. Dykes' catalog for 1929: "This is the most gloriously rich true blue self I have yet seen. The whole flower, standards and falls, may be compared for color to that of the standards of that wonderful Iris 'Souv. De Mme Gaudichau'. The flowers are large with a prominent pure white beard, very freely produced on strong branching stems, 3 1/2 ft. high. Late flowering and a good grower. This is hard to beat as a variety for color effect in the garden."

From Quality Gardens catalog 1931: WEDGEWOOD (Dykes 1923) E. 42". This is a beautiful rich, true blue self. The whole flower, standards and falls may be compared for color with that in the standards of the wonderful Iris Souv de Mad. Gaudichau. The flowers are large, with a prominent white beard. The combination of the white beard on the blue background, gave the flower its name. The flowers are very freely produced on strong branching stems. $1.00.
From Robert Wayman's catalog for 1932: "The richest Wedgwood-China blue of uniform color throughout with a striking white beard. Large flower."
