'Whiz' (Fred DeForest, R. 1963) TB, 39" (99 cm), Early midseason bloom. Light pink-yellow blend tinted apricot; red beard. Cloudcap X ( Cloudcap x Frances Kent). Fleur de Lis 1963.

WHIZ (DeForest '63) E.L. 39 in. Cloudcap x (Cloudcap x Frances Kent). Nicknamed Whiz some while back because it was truly a whiz when it came to producing wonderful children. Dug and accidentally discarded, present stock was regrown from a show garden clump. A huge, exquisitely formed, heavily ruffled flower of blended creams tinted pink with deeper flushed stands and lovely golder amber haft, it appears to be made of velvet and dusted with gilt. Parent of wonderful new things at DeForests and in our own garden. [Fleur De Lis Gardens, Canby, Oregon, Catalog, 1963]
