From AIS Bulletin #197 April 1970 Introducing YELLOW CHIFFON (Rudolph '70) $25.00. No. 64-50 (62-51 X 62-30: (Dancing Bride X Sib). Early Midseason, 34". A clear shade of canary yellow. Standards RHS 6/D edged RHS 6/C. The beautifully ruffled blossoms are well spaced on a 34" strong stalk. Standards are domed, well rounded and clearly show the wide lacy styles. Falls are wide and round with beautiful deep ruffling and complemented by a heavy yellow beard. This iris is from two DANCING BRIDE seedlings. When crossed back to pinks it will produce a percentage of very ruffled pinks with heavy substance. Seven or more buds. Fertile both ways. HC 1964 and 1968. Lakelawn Gardens.
Rudolph's YELLOW CHIFFON and CREAM TAFFETA were impressive in all gardens. 'CREAM TAFFETA' will fill a need for good irises in that color range described in its name. Flowers are large and coloring is smooth, from ruffled edges to the heart of the bloom. YELLOW CHIFFON is a luscious yellow and white blend which looks good enough to eat. The slightly open standards are held strongly erect so that they are attractive. Both of these are very fine additions to any garden. [Mullin, Ron (1971). Irises I Like, American Iris Society Bulletin 204(January 1972), 10.]
