1934, Sass
'Southland' (Hans Peter Sass, 1934) IB. Midseason bloom and rebloom. Color Class-Y4D. I. pumila x ( 'King Tut').
See below:
From Sass catalog, 1937: SOUTHLAND (H. P. Sass, 1934)-Intermediate and fall bloomer. Color lemon chrome. Flowers large and of heavy substance. S domed; F flaring. Stems 24 inches, low branching. $2.50 |
SOUTHLAND is very rich in its golden yellow but it, too, is a shy bloomer here[Kansas] and most always blooms right down at the ground, seemingly without a stem. It. seems to be a great favorite in the South. [H. M. Hill, “Reblooming Iris,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society #97(May 1945): 23.] |
