Standards heavily ruffled dark red; Falls lighter; tiny yellow signal. T. Sakata seedling X ('Imperial Velvet' x 'Good Omen'). Paolucci/Conningham 1979.

From AIS Bulletin #234 Summer 1979 Introducing LORENZACCIO (Paolucci & Conningham). Gamma 1001101-00111. "Tars Tarkas" X (Imperial Velvet x Good Omen). Height 90 cm., bloom diameter 20-22.5 cm., 6 petals plus petalloids. Diploid. This heavily ruffled, deep, dramatic red may be the final statement in the search for an elegant, sunfast and weather resistant red.
