The Moscow Iris Competition was established by the Russian Iris Society to stimulate hybridizing and to determinate the most attractive and garden worthy TB variety (not limited to Russian hybridizers). The competition is by a garden trial, judged in the third year after planting. Only registered varieties are permitted to be entered in the competition. They should not be older than 2 years from the year of registration or introduction if before registration.:

To take part in the competition an entrant should send as a minimum, two peicies of each variety prior to August 10 th of the current year.

Foreign irises should be accompanied with a Quarantine Certificate. Each plant should be identified by labeling with a code in letters and figures. Plants should be accompanied with a sealed envelope giving the same codes on the outside and with variety names or seedling numbers, and the submission codes and full descriptions of irises with the submitters signature and address inside. A judging will be held in the third year after planting.
