This is a Subgenus in the Genus Iris . This group is often referred to as the Reticulata Irises. It is divided into:
- Section Brevituba which includes the species Iris pamphylica ,
- Section Monolepis which includes the species Iris kolpakowskiana , and Iris winkleri ,
- Section Hermodactyloides which includes the species Iris bakeriana, Iris histrio, Iris histrioides , Iris reticulata , Iris sophenensis, Iris vartanii , and Iris winogradowii ,
- Section Micropogon which includes the species Iris danfordiae .
The new species Iris zagrica would be in the Section Hermodactyloides along with Iris tuberosa.
Other species names associated with this subgenus but not necessarily recognized as species today are; Iris amasiana , Iris bornmuelleri , Iris crociformis , Iris celikii
