HISTORY OF THE CALENDAR PROJECT
The calendar project began in 1985 at the behest of Joe Gatty. The first calendar was published in 1986 through DAI Nippon Printing. The first fifteen (15) annual calendars were printed in Japan. The 2000 and 2001 calendars were printed in Hong Kong due to lower paper prices at that branch of DNP.
Olive Rice-Waters (for many years AIS Public Relations chairman), along with George Waters, retired editor of Pacific Horticulture, have been the creative force behind the calendar project since its inception.
