|Balceng, very handsome hybrids of I. balkana x I. cengialti, the falls in the flowers being artistically flaked. They are intermediate in their period of blooming, filling the gap between the very earliest of the Dwarf bearded Irises and the taller and later flowering bearded Irises.

Special note from RRP: The the dwarf iris 'Harlequin' curretly in commerce does not quite match the original descriptions but the meanings of some old descriptors were unclear. Bonnewitz's description from 1920 could fit these current plants. See SDB 'Harlequin'
