'Cosmic Voyage' (Keith Keppel, R. 2016) Seedling 08-25A. TB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards dark purple (darker than M&P 48-J-12) center showing slight white to prune-purple (46-L-11) flecking, more on inner side; style arms blended redder and lighter (46-J-7 to 48-J-8); Falls dark purple (48-J-12) edge lightening to cyclamen purple (47/48-L-9), ⁵⁄₈˝ band extending as limited dotting and raying into golden buff-orange (9-G-7), faint white ground showing under dark haft markings; beard hairs based white, lavender mid-layer, tips terra cotta (4-D-12). From Keith Keppel Iris catalog, 2017: COSMIC VOYAGE M 36” (Sorbonne X ((98-204G, pod parent of Tunnel Vision, x sib 98 204A) x (98-204B x 98-204A))) #08-25A. Heading into uncharted territory, this one has blackish purple standards with faint starry, whitish flecking toward the center and reverse side. Dark purple fall edges segue to a lighter cyclamen purple band with some dotting and raying extending into the central area. Ground color varies considerably dependent on weather, from pinkish salmon to (with heat) light pumpkin orange. Terracotta beards have a lavender mid-layer and white base. About seven buds per stalk. EC and Best Seedling, Salem, 2016. $50.00.
