'Escapade' ( Chet Tompkins, R. 1952) TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason bloom. Blend. Orchid-pink (or cattleya orchid) edged gold. 'Tunisian Gold' x 'Cascade Splendor'. Fleur de Lis 1952.
From Easy Breeze Gardens catalog, 1954: ESCAPADE (Tompkins '52) 36". Rich glowing orchid with a shimmering border of gold and deep golden beard. Flaring form, broad ruffled petals and heavy substance. $10.00.
"Escapade (Tompkiris '52)-Somewhat on the order of 'Lavender and Gold Lace', but better form. Standards a soft orchid edged with gold, falls are flaring and slightly ruffled in soft orchid with wide band of gold and gold shoulders. A very soft effect in a clump but beautiful."
