(TB) 'Fancy Frosting'

1963, Tompkins

'Fancy Frosting' ( Chet Tompkins, R. 1963) TB, 40" (102 cm), Midseason to very late bloom. Powder pink self; matching beard. ( 'Pink Fulfillment' x 'Memories') X 'Cameo Coral'. Fleur de Lis 1963.

FANCY FROSTING (Tompkins 1963) M.VL. (Pink Fulfillment x (Memories x Cameo Coral)). A tall, well branched, very showy new pink. The flowers are very large and broad petaled, the stands nicely domed and the falls extremely broad, round and beautifully flaring with nicely ruffled hafts and petal edges. One of the very pinkest we have seen, this is rich powder pink with a deep self-colored beard. Heavily substanced, it has a delightful velvety finish which is most unusual in the pink class. An outstanding beauty that gives a top notch performance over a long season. No. 58-143. $25.00. [Fleur De Lis Gardens, Canby, Oregon, Catalog, 1963]

FANCY FROSTING (Tompkins '63) A large, well-formed "powder pink" flower with a striking deeper pink beard, this is a beautifully formed flower with domed standards and wide ruffled falls. Substance, branching and performance are all excellent. [Ralph and Helen Lewis, “Iris from the Carolinas to Iowa and Ohio,” Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 179 (October 1965): 93.]
