From Cornell Bulletin 112: FLORENTINA - (1500. Native to Italy and southern France). Color effect an iridescent creamy white self. Standards iridescent blue-white, fading to cream-white. falls same, yellowish on haft; veined olive. Beard yellow. This plant is a vigorous grower, and has broad, stiff, glaucous yellow-green foliage which persists in winter. Its spreading, open flowers, of opalescent cream and gray-blue tints, are excellent in the landscape mass or as cut flowers. It is sweet scented and early flowering. It is a common source of the dried orris root.
