From Lémon, Annales de Flore et Pomone, 1839-1840, p. 365: "Plantes s'élevant de 35 à 50 cm; Hector, fond jaune terne, pét. ext. striés de brun à la base, pourpres clairs au sommet."
Translation: "Plants rising from 35 to 50 cm, Hector, dull yellow background, outer petals (falls) streaked with brown at base, clear purples at top."
From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: "HECTOR — (Var.) S. transparent mother of pearl passing to soft primrose; style arms primrose; F. velvety brownish-crimson with violet reflections, paler middle line. Thirty inches. 15¢"
From Fryer's catalog, 1921: "HECTOR - Standards soft, clouded yellow; Falls velvety crimson-black; showy. 30". 25¢."
From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: "JENNY LIND— Rich and attractive. S. mingled bright gold and old gold with pearly reflections; F. velvety purplish-brown, veined on yellowish-white at base; style arms tinted pinkish. 75c."
In 1939 Check List Jenny Lind is listed as a synonym of Hector. Some catalogs list them as separate cultivars.
