'King's Ransom' (Carl S. Milliken, R. 1939) TB. Midseason bloom. Color Class-Y4M. ('Mauna Loa' x 'Don Quixote') X ('Rubeo' x 'W. R. Dykes').
From Milliken See below: Gardens catalog, 1940: For the past two seasons, visitors have consistently selected this seedling as the finest yellow in our garden. It is deeper and brighter than either Lady Paramount or Happy Days and is also larger and taller. The outstanding characteristic that sets this iris apart from other yellows, however, is the fact that both standards and falls are beautifully frilled and wavy. This quality must be seen to be fully appreciated. King's Ransom is a midseason bloomer, an extremely vigorous grower, and should be perfectly hardy in the severe climates. Height 4 feet. $15 .00.
