Stardards palest pearl-violet, slightly darker texture veins, 1/4" gold-tan band; style arms pale slate-violet, gold tan lacy crests and veins extending to stigmatic lip; Falls falls dark, velvety burgundy, extensive network of fine white veins over hafts, white bumps and sometimes white hooks along rim, reverse gold to green gold to cream to white heavily speckled and sanded red purple to burgundy; ruffled, laced; pronounced sweet fragrance. Hybridizer's Comment: See below: * * There are many tantalizing mysteries waiting to be unveiled as you gaze upon Magic Masquerade. Ruffled and laced standards are pale slate-violet with 1/3" tan bands. Styles are the same with lacy tan crests. Heavily ruffled falls are rich, velvety, dark wine with white spray patterning surrounding muted gold beards. Heavily laced edges often have little white hooks along the edges of the lace. They are a very interesting adornment. Fall reverses are every bit as pretty as the tops. Green sunbursts turn to golden-yellow, to white and then to wine. Tall, well-branched stalks have 8-9 buds. Growth is strong and vigorous. Bred to plicatas, it is giving some exotic colors and patterns. Lateness of bloom helps ensure it will make it past those late frosts. References
