From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1956: TIMES SQUARE (Tompkins 1956) M. L. 36 in. Oriental Bazaar x Lady Albright). A lovely new bitoned blend, this is as bright and colorful as the place for which it is named. Excellently formed and of heavy substance, this iris has the large size and broad petals of its pod parent and the brilliant coloring of the pollen parent, intensified and clarified. The delicately ruffled and well domed stands are a clear, light golden copper and the broad, full formed falls are of brilliant copper red with an infusion of brown and a large central flush of bright violet blue. A full golden beard and a rich chocolate red haft accents its sharp coloring. A good grower, it has broad, clean, light colored foliage and strong, well branched stalks. No. 53-105 25.00 |
