'Valimar' (Melba Hamblen, R. 1956). Seedling# 53-27H. TB, 36" (91 cm). Late midseason bloom. Color Class YO3L, Standards peach-pink (Wilson 512/1); falls nasturtium, orange influence (610/2); beard nasturtium-red. ('Helen Mc Gregor' x 'Radiation') X 'Palomino'. Mission Bell 1958. Honorable Mention 1958; Judges' Choice 1958, 1959; Amard of Merit 1960.
Note: Name transferred from 1955 registration; not introduced.

Rich, smooth apricot-pink with broad, flaring and ruffled falls. Exceptionally heavy substance. The stalks are very strong and well branched, often carrying three buds in each socket. Can be a superb breeder for pinks, apricots, orchids, violets and other byproducts of pinks, including whites with tangerine beards. Has a wide nasturtium-red beard. No. 53-27 H. H.C. 1957. $20.00 |
| From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1965: VALIMAR (Hamblen '58) M-36". A superb, rich, very smooth lovely apri~ot pink with a heavy redtangerine beard, that 1s vivid & striking. Falls ruffled, flaring almost to horizontal. Shows perfect ruffling & firmly closed standards, with prolific bloom. Has performed splendidly in both western & eastern gardens. Has some tendency to re-bloom. Wonderful breeding possibilities. HM'58; AM'&O (Helen McGregor x Radiation) X Palomino. Regularly $2.50; on $10 order $2.25; on $25 order $2.10. |
