WITCHING HOUR (Washington 1938) The arched and domed standards are buff yellow with faint flesh pink tinge. The falls are of the same tone and are dusted with burnished gold well down from the throat, giving the effect of powdered gold. Seven branched stalks, and also the branches are branched. A luscious yellow flower of firm substance, and the most remarkable and fine hranching that I have ever seen in an iris. Very late blooming. 41 in. $20.00. [Mrs. Thomas Nesmith, Fairmount Gardens Catalog, Lowell, Massachusetts, Introductions for 1938, Catalog, Summer 1938-Spring 1939]
