(SIB) 'Fair and Forty'

1972, McEwen

'Fair And Forty' ( Currier McEwen, R. 1970) Seedling S66/98A. SIB (40 chrom.), 32" (81 cm), Midseason to late bloom. Standards pale yellow (RHS 4D); falls yellow (5D), yellow (5D) blaze stippled with few dark brownish red (187A) dots; yellow styles stippled magenta rose (186D) and magenta rose midrib. Hansford seedling from yellow line from I. bulleyana X sibling. McEwen 1972.

From AIS Bulletin #206 July 1972 Introducing FAIR AND FORTY: 32", LM to L. The 3" flowers have pale yellow (4 D) standards and pendant, slightly deeper falls. Instead of a blaze it has an area of deeper yellow stippled with a few brownish-red dots. The pale yellow styles are stippled lilac. Fine branching. Very fertile with 40 chr. species. Derived from Mrs. Hansford's yellow line of I. bulleyana. $10. Currier McEwen.
