From AIS Bulletin #205 April 1972 Introducing SURF RIDER (Tucker '72). 40". EML. (55K X JOY DANCER) White with a light blue infusion on lower part of standards. 11-12 buds perfectly arranged. A strong vigorous plant. Probably the best introduction we have ever made. HC '70. $35.00. Southern Meadows Garden.

SURF RIDER (Tucker) is a very smooth pale blue with a violet cast. The color is more intense in the center of the flower. Blooms are ruffled, flared, of great width, and at least eight of them on a good stalk. [Hal Stahly, AIS Bulletin #210 July 1973:33]

Another pleasant surprise for us was SURF RIDER (Tucker, 1972). It is a reverse blue amoena attempt similar to SEA VENTURE, but much larger, taller, and rounder in form. The tone of blue is somewhat different from SEA VENTURE'S. Well-branched in every garden, and excellent plant habits. We now see why it received such a sound HM last year. [Dyer, Perry. “Roanoke 1974, and Points West.” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society. 221 (July 1974): 30.]
