From Tell's Iris Gardens catalog, 1948: ALTAMOHR (C. J. Paul) (Wm. Mohr x Alta California) Large flaring orchid-violet similar to but a little pinker than, 'Ormohr'. Tall stems about 38 inches or more with one branch only, ordinarily with 4 to 6 buds. Sets seed and has pollen. Each $10.00.
From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: ALTA MOHR (Paul '48) L 36" Wm. Mohr X Alta California. Flaring falls of violet-orchid have heavy veins of maroon. The standards are of perhaps a more purple orchid than the falls. $1.00

AIS Color Class: B7M (blue self with red undertones). '76 CL: Medium blue self. Court Of Iris: "Flaring falls of violet-orchid have heavy veins of maroon. The standards are orchid with a purple hint." Rainbow: "A flaring orchid-violet of large size …. Falls heavily veined in maroon at haft." Vallette: "flaring violet-orchid."
