From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1958: GAY STRIPES • (Roy Fielding, San Gabriel, Calif.). Mid. 34 inches. (From two C. G. White one-quarter Oncocyclus sdlgs). A novel and unusal fancy plicata. The standards are silvery blue-grey, falls same with dark violet lines radiating over all as the wings of an exotic butterfly. It is throwing unusual seedlings in "striped", plain and fancy patterns. Medium-sized flowers that are especially effective for arrangements. Hardy and vigorous. $15.00 |

Reported from North Carolina as flowering thru Oct. & Nov. An unusual fancy plicata in silvery blue-gray, with falls heavily striped & veined in deep violet, like markings on an exotic butterfly.
