References:
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1923/24: HAMADAN (Foster) $3.00. This is not a new variety, but I do not believe that many Americans are growing it. It does not increase rapidly, and I am not yet sure that it deserves a permanent place in our gardens. I think it should be seen in some of the Shows next year, however. |
From Huron Valley Iris Gardens catalog 1928: HAMADAN (Foster) Paradoxa x Pogon. S. light violet; F. whitish, heavily lined purple. Most of the Foster hybrids have either Paradoxa or Iberica, which gives the hybrids the characteristic black blotch and cushion beard. $3.00. |
