From Diehl's Gardens catalog, 1956: PINTO LASSIE (Abbie Collet x Capitola) ML. 28". $10.00. So amazingly different that it stops visitors in their tracks, this large flowered oncobred is a true variegated iris. The broad blooms are splashed and veined light Dahlia-Purple over a soft cream-white ground, with broad bronze beard and brown dots stippling the haft. A novelty that seems to be taking the iris fanciers by storm. Advance orders leave a short supply. Typical onco branching. |
