■(AB) 'Pirate's Ransom'
2020, Black
'Pirate's Ransom' (
Paul Black, R. 2020) Seedling X166A. AB (OGB), 27" (69 cm), Early midseason bloom. Standards light orchid, lined overall mid lilac; style arms mid rose, mid gold edge; falls mid greyed cranberry, black cherry signal blended to mid garnet around it; beards dark old gold.
'Aztec Prince' X
'Solar Wind'. Mid-America 2020.
Honorable Mention 2022;
Award of Merit 2024.
NOTE: The photos of this cultivar are of two different varieties. There were two irises that got distributed by the hybridizer and Mid-America Gardens under this name. The lilac over rose variety is the originally registered cultivar, but by an accident, the unregistered gold over burgundy-red sibling was sent out instead. This issue is currently known and a resolution is being worked on.
