From Sass catalog, 1937: STORMY DAWN (Jacob Sass, 1933)- S. pallid soft blue violet, darker at base. F. pale nerapaline blue with brown stripes on the haft, forming a blotch at the end of the beard. Two large flowers on 10-inch stems. $1.50
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: STORMY DAWN AB (Jacob Sass, R. 1933). Seedling # NIA. DMB, low height, early. (Y. seedling pumila x ?) X Beatrix. AIS Color Class: S3L (blue squalens, with bitone pattern). '76 CL: Blue-toned bicolor blend, light. Vallette: "S. pale blue violet; F. soft blue veined brown." Sass, 1933. Notes: An 0GB in the quantum system, probably an OGB- in the chromosome setsystem. Ref: AIS '39, p. 517; ASI '76, p. 81; Vallette, p. 179.
