White]], R. 1947). AB, IMB, medium height, Early bloom. Color Class-B9D. Oncocyclus X pogoniris. White, 1948. Also listed in IB web: [[Ib.IbYarkand]['Yarkand']]. G. White ) Oncobred. A wonderful oncobred which is a symphony of violets. The lighter Wisteria violet (Ridgway), is veined and toned with the deeper Blanc's, Bradley's and Madder violets (Ridgway). The flowers are large for flowers of this type, 5-1/2 inches high by 4-1/2 inches wide and are borne on single branched stalks about two feet tall. The growth is vigorons but we do not know about its behavior in colder sections. $10.00 | | From Milliken catalog 1953: A strangely beautiful oncobred, carrying much of the true onco in its makeup. A medley of violets with an almost black beard and signal patch. The flower is almost a complete globe, as the Falls curl under in true onco fashion. 24". | | From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: YARKAND (White '47) M 24" (Unknown). The large globular flowers remind one of susiana in shape. Really a bi-tone in violet, shading from wistaria in the standards to deep purple-violet in the veined falls. Although it has never proved fertile for us, we keep trying, for we like it very much. $1.50 | | From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon !McAllister, April 2000: YARKAND AB (Clarence G. White, R. 1947). Seedling # NIA. IMB, medium height, E.Oncocyclus X pogoniris. AIS Color Class: !B9D (blustandards with red falls). '76 CL: Dark blue bitone. Court of Iris: "a bitone shading from wisteria in the standards to deep purple in the veined falls." Rainbow: "Standards bright amethyst blue, irregularly veined in dark violet, well rounded, strongly arched in Onco fashion. Falls almost black, dark mulberry at end. Beard heavy, prominent bronzy-black. Styles are conspicuous, bright lilac red." Vallette: "dark purple self, black signal patch." White, 1948. Notes: An OB in the quantum system, an OB in the chromosome-set system.
