From Milliken catalog, 1948: YUSSUF (C. G. White) A large bold flower (6 inches x 4 inches) carrying the very evident touch of the Far East. It is a self of rose purple which shades to the darker Indian purple, all of which is splashed with straw yellow. It will be found very useful in a flower arrangement of oriental atmosphere. Stem unbranched. Anoncobred. 30 inches. $1.00.
From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: YUSSUF (While '42) E 30" (Oncobred). This flower of rose-purple is veined in straw-yellow with splashes of the same color-much after the fashion of 'Joppa Parrot'. It grows well and blooms prolifically with us and is quite Onco in appearance. $.75
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: YUSSUF AB (Clarence G. White, R. 1942). Sdlg # NIA. TMB, tall, E-La. AIS Color Class: S7D (dark red-toned squalens). '76 CL: Dark red-toned blend. Court of lris: "The flower of rose-purple is veined in straw-yellow with splashes of the same color." Vallette: "dark purple oncobred, veined darker." No information on introduction found in AIS Checklists. Notes: Counted as a 44 chromosome amphidiploid, an OB in both systems.
