From J.C. Nicholls Irises catalog, 1928: "Standards and falls amber shading into olive green with a hint of lavender, flaked and striated with deep purple maroon. Flowers large. It is early, hardy, and blooms freely over a long period. It is a hybrid of the bearded Iris, Lutescens Aurea, and the oncocyclus, Susiana. Quite different from any other. We consider it beautiful and appealing, and worthy of a place in every collection."
From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: ZWANENBURG (Denis '12) VE 20" (Lutescens Aurea X Susiana). This odd flower of rather olive-cream has small splashes of maroon and flecks of almost green. One of the parents of 'Mohresque'. $.50
